Application:

Crawler cranes are typically used in manufacturing and assembly halls, closed warehouses, and outdoor storage areas for serving machines, assembling, loading, and short-distance transportation. The area they serve is rectangular, and their effect area is a cuboid.

They typically run on a runway fixed to consoles on the building's supporting columns or columns for supporting the runway. Based on their arrangement on the runway, we distinguish between overhead and underrunning (suspended) cranes.

In average cases, the most economical arrangement is a single-span crawler crane, while the characteristic of two-span cranes is the higher load capacity and/or the larger span.

Advantages of crawler cranes:

  • They allow serving large areas,

  • Their own movement does not require useful area,

  • Their performance is high.

Disadvantages of crawler cranes:

  • The runway installed along the service area is expensive.
